The 9A1 fixed the M96's bore-score reputation but kept the flat-six coil problem: six coils cooking at the back of the engine bay. High-mileage 997.2s and 991.1s - and hard-driven 981s and GT4s - show it as single-cylinder misfires and rough cold running.
